the fruits of revolution is not gone

Strictly speaking, yesterday was the real start of graduate design in chengdu. considering what i have finished in beijing, i had to get a display device with a s-video for my platform. then, it took me nearly the whole morning to find an old 14-inch TV in WU Kuaidan electronic marketplace. unfortunately, it did not work with my platform of experiment when i got home!?

firstly, i launched SignalTap to show the video output of FPGA. it was ok. then, i doubted the quality of video platform. it could be measured only by oscilloscope. here, i wanted to say somthing about s-video which was the abbreviation of separate video. it means that it transport signals separately. it separates chroma signals(C) and luminance signals(Y) on the basis of AV interface. compared with AV interface, it does not have the process of the Y/C hybird transmission. so it is more efficient and has less distortion. however, it still has to mix two colour difference signals(Cr and Cb) to form chroma signals(C).

in the evening, i got the waveform from oscilloscope.

this is the waveform from luminace signal(Y). it is clear that it has information.

this is from chorom signals. it seems it had no valuable information. it is true because my ideal picture is black-and-white picture. so, it should has no information collecting with chorom.

after having discussions with senior wang. we thought that the old TV had a bad compatibility. at last, i changed my display device and got the right result. well, it is really embarrasing that i got the right picture on my TV at home. in other words, the old TV from Wu Kuaidan was useless~囧~。。。。。

it is OK, i am a beginner. in the future, i will try to have a more mature manner of working. the next main task is to create the false noise.
