<span style="font-size:12px;">There is one case where the client does not directly rely on the vCenter Single Sign-On service to get a token and that is when the vCloud Suite endpoint retrieves a SAML token from the vCenter Single Sign-On service after getting the authentication credentials from the client.
<strong>To obtain a vCloud Suite session ID without a SAML token</strong>
Send a request for an endpoint URL to the Lookup Service. With the endpoint request, you provide a search filter with the management instance.
You receive a vCloud Suite endpoint on the management node.
Use the vCloud Suite endpoint to send your credentials. The vCloud Suite endpoint provides a reverse proxy where the credentials are sent to the vCenter Single Sign-On service and the proxy receives the SAML token.
The output for the vCloud Suite endpoint is the session ID. The session ID is valid for all vCloud Suite services on the management node.
