## getaway: 短期休假 ##

a short or quick vacation

She was hoping to take some time off work and make a getaway to France.  
她希望休息一段时间，去法国短期休假。

We did many interesting things during our getaway to Spain.  
我们在西班牙短期休假的那段时间做了很多有趣的事情。

## encourage: 鼓励 ##

to give someone hope and confidence

I encourage you all to read as much as you can before the weekend.

My dad encouraged me to do my best on my math test.  
我爸爸鼓励我数序考试尽力就好。

## make the most of sth: 充分利用 ##

to take full advantage of something because it may not last long

We should make the most of our time here even though we only have one day.

to start a journey

Most people have a dream to see the world, but they need to earn money to do that.  
很多年轻人都有出去见见世面的梦想，但是他们需要挣钱才能实现。

## the adventurous type: 富有冒险精神的一类人 ##

the type of person who enjoys exciting and sometimes dangerous experiences

I’m not really the adventurous type, so I’ll just stay at home while you guys go there.  
我算不上是那种有冒险精神的人，所以你们去那儿的时候我会待在家里。

My best friend is the adventurous type and he is always exploring somewhere different.  
我最好的朋友是那种富有冒险精神的人，他经常去不同的地方探索。

# Grammar #

## It’s + *adj.* \+ to do sth. ##

It’s just terrifying to be alone in a place where you don’t know anybody.  
在这个句子中，`it`是 形式主语 (`formal subject`)，真正的主语是 to be alone in a place where you don’t know anybody，但是这个主语比较长，为了避免头重脚轻，用 `it`做形式主语，而将真正的主语放在后面位于句尾。

*  It’s terrifying to take the airplane in such a terrible weather.
 *  It’s lucky to have the opportunity to travel around the world.
 *  It’s exciting to go on a trip to Paris with my friends this summer.
