# Word Preparation #

## easy-going: 随和的，容易相处的 ##

relaxed and not easily upset or worried

I brother is a great person to hang out with because he is very easy-going.  
我哥哥是个很随和的人，所以跟他相处会很愉快。

I don’t like to spend too much time with people who are not easy-going.  
我不喜欢和那些难以相处的人在一起待太久。

## devote: 致力于，奉献 ##

to use all or most of your time, effort, etc. in order to do something or help someone

**注：** devote 后面的 `to`是介词，介词后的动词使用现在分词形式。

She devoted her entire summer to building houses for homeless people.  
她花了一整个夏天的时间帮助那些无家可归的人盖房子。

You should devote at least ten minutes a day to reading this book.  
你每天应该至少花10分钟时间读这本书。

## find time: 抽时间（做某事） ##

to make time to do something

I will fix your computer for you once I find time to do so.  
我抽出空来帮你修电脑。

My old sister finally found time to contact her old friends from high school.  
我姐姐/妹妹终于抽出了时间联系她高中时代的那些老朋友。

## bring someone up: 抚养 ##

to raise or look after someone into adulthood

My grandparents are the ones who brought me up.  
我是爷爷奶奶抚养大的。

Jerry was brought up by his aunt because his parents were always busy.  
Jerry是他的姑姑抚养大的，因为他父母总是很忙。

## work overtime: 加班 ##

to work more hours than what is required

I won’t be home for dinner tonight because I need to work overtime.  
我今晚不能回家吃晚饭，因为我要加班。

My dad often works overtime because he is a workaholic.  
我爸爸经常加班，因为他是工作狂。

## express feelings ##

You have a new job, so I understand why you usually work overtime.  
I know you always have wise words for me.  
在这两句话里，I understand 和 I know 是用来表达感受的，分别表示 “我理解” 和 “我知道”。

*  I understand your concern, but the operation is completely safe.
 *  I understand how hard things have been for you.
 *  I know exactly how you feel.
 *  I know things will turn out all right.
